美国国防部长赫格塞思于5月29日在新加坡登上美军“拳师号”两栖攻击舰并发表讲话。他就伊朗核问题作出强硬表态，强调美军威慑力，同时呼吁盟友分担防务责任。

赫格塞思此行还将出席第23届香格里拉对话会。登舰期间，他与驻舰海军官兵开展联合训练，并在训练间隙面向官兵发表讲话。
